COURSE DESCRIPTION & LEARNING OBJECTIVES |
Course Description: The goal of this course is to improve understanding and preparedness for safely managing well water after hurricane and flooding events. This course is designed to provide general guidance and training to the public health workforce, response workers, volunteers, and community members who deal with well water hazards that arise after hurricanes and floods occur in Louisiana.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify regulated drinking water systems and how they are affected by the Safe Drinking Water Act
- Recognize the major aquifers in Louisiana
- Describe the process for drilling a private well
- Identify private well safety and maintenance practices
